Genius Baby

So while I was out of town, my AMAZING husband got me a Nike plus device - it goes inside a special running shoe and hooks to my ipod and records running mileage on an online program. It is SO COOL!! We ran twice today just to see what our little "Nike Mini" people would do (they dance or jump hurdles or ride a unicycle so far).

So on our second run tonight, EB was wearing her shoes in the stroller. Every time she kicked her feet I would tilt the stroller back and she would laugh. It didn't take long for her to figure out that SHE was making the stroller tilt. It was unbelievable! Who knew a four month old could understand cause and effect. Seriously - GENIUS!!!!

I just love people. Seriously, I really love people - nearly everyone I meet. This week EB and I have been able to spend time with the people at the very top of that list - the people who I love as much as my family - people who are dear to my heart, forever friends, no matter how long we are apart it seems like just yesterday we were together, "kindred spirits", etc... Don't get me wrong - I haven't seen ALL of the people who meet this description this week - but I have been blessed to spend time with a lot of them. Today EB and I had breakfast with Karen Salerno and Ricky Stark - Karen is such a great cook, and it was wonderful to catch up with them and, as always, we were encouraged by the visit. Then we hung out with the Hall family. It always does my heart good to see those three amazing kids - not to mention Johnnie and Tonya, two of my very favorite people in the whole world!
Than an evening with my Daddio. EB loves him so much - he makes her laugh and talk like crazy! The only thing that could have made this day better would be if DB were here to share it with us. Check out the updated Flkr page on the left hand column - some great pictures especially of the Hall girls!

There have been lots of things said of me living in KY. Funny how the pot some times laughs at the kettle black. Yet one thing that has never been said of me - hey you city boy!!!
This video express just that.

EB's Busy Week in SC

Monday EB got her shoes off (she only wears them at night now!!). Since then we have spent time with Mamaw Wilma and Great Mamaw Pearl, Honey, Grandaddio, Aunt Jessi and Kris (wedding next June!!!), Nana (great grandmother), Karen Salerno, Tara (baby due in three months!), Rhonda, the Dickerts (Donna, Mary Catherine, and Sarah - Steve and Erin couldn't make it, sadly, but we had a great time with the Dickerts that made it!), Devin (whose baby is due in three weeks!) and there is more to come! This has been a week of special time with special people that EB's mommy loves dearly - so of course, EB does too!!!
EB's week has been VERY busy - but I guess when you are so cute and loveable, everybody wants a piece of your time! We are having a great time, with more fun to come...stay tuned! (And check out EB's pictures on the Flikr page to the left).

Update from SC: EB's loathing of travel

Monday morning EB was officially given feet free status for twelve hours a day. YEAH!!! She loves it - but when shoes time comes at night, EB and her mommy both have a really hard time. EB has cried herself to sleep two nights in a row, and her mommy isn't much better. I guess sweet EB will adjust to this phase the same way she did the casts and the shoes all of the time, but my heart is breaking for her at night. 4 years of this! Tonight she actually threw up when I went to put the shoes on - I am teary-eyed even typing this! The evening agony aside, her feet are perfect now and the nighttime shoe wearing is just for maintenance. She is so blessed to have the option of getting her feet fixed, and whether she choses ballet or basketball, her feet will serve her well!

Today EB has been fairly fussy off and on all day. (Not to mention her very vocal protests all the way home yesterday). Maybe this is because she is teething? Maybe this is because everything is unfamiliar? Or is this because she is a little off kilter from driving all day yesterday? I do not know why, but my normally sweet, amiable, non-fussy little angel has become a totally different baby the past two days. Goodness gracious! I am considering never leaving the house again - or is this a normal part of a baby's life that she needs to learn to deal with (and that I need to learn to deal with)?

Happy First Father's Day to DB, and first father's day as grandfathers to Papa D and Grandaddio!

This is a big week for Baby EB! Tomorrow she gets her shoes off while she is awake! We are so excited for the little cutie - she has been so patient with those shoes one - they haven't slowed her down or set her back one bit! She is truly amazing!

She also gets to spend a week in Greer, SC with Jeni's family, and then on to Charleston for a week with Honey and one of Honey's good friends. Jeni and EB are VERY excited, but sad as well - we will miss DB SOOOOO MUCH!!!!

Last night Jeni and I took EB over to Fox and Hound Pub & Grill to meet face-to face with some of the local Louisville Twitter members. There were several notable attendees including @dgregorie who coined the term "podcasting" also recognized in the Let's Tweeup online article @EBWright would also be noted as an important part of the evenings events. This Video reveals the youngest member of the Twitter community.

Sneaky EB has been able to scoot for quite a while now, but pretty much only when we are not looking. No way would she ever "perform" for the video camera. Well, EB has finally been outsmarted by her mommy. I placed her on this blanket and took a picture every five minutes...
(posts like this are pretty much just for the grandparents who want to know every little thing...sorry to the rest of you...)

How does a 3 and half month old entertain herself? Well, EB spends hours on end rolling over and scooting. Even as I write this she is throwing her feet back and forth talking up a storm. Every now and then she rolls all the way over on her tummy - but she is very unhappy when that happens.
7 days until the shoes come off!!! Yeah for EB!!!!

EB and I spent the day out and about yesterday at a coffee shop in Louisville. Please don't think I am stupid, but does anyone have suggestions on going out and about with bottles? According to the directions, it seems impossible. Someone enlighten me on how to travel with bottles without poisoning my baby. Right now we just mix it on the spot, but I know that will not always be possible.

EB Flips over!

Well, it happened weeks ago for the first time - she was playing on the floor during her feet free time and the next thing I know - this is what I see. I was so proud of her! Even with her shoes one, her favorite thing to do is throw her feet up in the air. Well, this week it became a repeating event -WITH her shoes on, she flips all the way over..well, almost - more like half and half.

EB's New Hairstyle (and other things I learned from Tonya Hall)

My dear lifelong friend Tonya Hall has taught me many things over the years. Her classic sense of style (think Lorelia Gilmore) and passion for the Lord are aspects I can only dream of emulating, but it goes much deeper than that. When in desperate need of a new kind of make-up, Tonya is my go-to-girl. (New Favorite: Sephora Mineral). She introduced me to The FIRM workout videos, some of my favorite books (The Mark of the Lion Series, Stepping Heavenward), budgeting using envelopes (Crown Financial Ministries), BabyWise and Growing Kids God’s Way, many great recipes, and, the icing on the cake, a little girl should always have a big bow on top of her hair. As many of you know, EB has never left home without a bow in her hair, but yesterday was a monumental day, as I discovered that her hair is long enough to put the bow directly on top of her head, following in the footsteps of two other beautiful little dress wearing girls, Emily and Claire Hall. The bow thing I can handle - if only I can be half as good of a mom as Tonya in other ways, I'll be happy! Thanks Tonya - you would be so proud of our little EB!

In other news - the count down is on! 12 more days until she gets her shoes off!! We are not sure exactly how much she will have to wear the shoes, but as of June 16th, it will NOT be 23 hours a day! YEAH for EB!!!!!
